Trent Symposium
The symposium was done by the Ancient Greek and Roman Studies Department at Trent. We needed to provide some essays from our courses to the organiser, and apply to present at the symposium. The organiser would then tell us which one we’d present. For me, I was to do my last paper from the organizer's early Christianity course despite the due date for it being after the conference. After thinking about it, I agreed to do that paper. From there, I was finishing my research on how visible early Christians were in Rome, and then created the presentation for it. On the day of the conference, it was done over zoom. With my prepared speech in front of me, I then gave the presentation. After I was done talking, I had to answer questions from both my professors and other members of the audience. Here, it was a good use of my research skills because I had to make sure my arguments were strong enough to hold on their own, and then I also had to educate the public because they might not know a lot about my topic and I was the one who knew a lot about it.
